Itinerary of MEKONG DELTA CYCLING 4 DAYS WITH EXIT TO CAMBODIA
DAY 1: Saigon – Vinh Long – Can Tho
After two hour bus drive out of bustling Saigon, along straight highways across green rice fields of Mekong Delta Vietnam, you arrive a boat quay where bikes are loaded to the boat and we start the boat trip. That’s the initial exploration of the Mekong river with boating along the river, passing by a floating market where fruits and vegetables are merchandised, and families live on the boats.
Further cruising will take you to an island where Mekong Delta cycling exploration is so tempted. That’s the biking along the canals with authentic local lives, across the villages by the small trails that bus can never go into, among the green color of the Mekong nature.
Stop by a local house and enjoy some food prepared by a local family here, possibly by a canal bank for fully get the cool feeling of the place.
After the lunch is a great biking along a huge rice farm by a small road where not many tourist can go. At the end of the road is an ferry where you can biking into it for a lift to the other side of the huge Mekong river. The moment on the ferry is a great chance to meet local people, have sunset shots on the river or just get relaxed with the scenery of a huge river.
10 minute biking to hotel is just for a feeling of achievement.
DAY 2: Can Tho – Long Xuyen – Chau Doc
Take a boat trip early in the morning to Cai Rang floating market for the best view of floating market in Mekong Delta. The local people go to the market early and we don’t see much if we are late. After amazing scenery of the market, get cruising further to small canals for more beauty of this water way. We then stop the boat and get on the bus for a transfer to Long Xuyen for a beautiful Mekong Delta cycling into the trails of villages, avoiding the bustling roads with big vehicles. Along the roads, together with river views, you can get fertile scenery Vietnam feeling with small villages, markets, orchards, fish farms and daily life of Mekong Delta people.
More fantastic view along your long bike today is the biggest fish farming villages en route. But that’s not the last, because after checking in your hotel and having looking over your window to the endless rice fields beneath your room.
DAY 3: Chau Doc – Ha Tien
In the morning, take a boat trip on the river to the fish farms you saw yesterday, to understand way they cultivate fish here, as well as to have a closer look the life on boats.
After the boat trip is the beautiful bike Tra Su biosphere park which is a mangrove forest with great source of flora and fauna. Further biking to Tri Ton along along a lot of Khmer pagoda en route and we might stop at some of them for a visit.
Stop at highway and take a lift to Ha Tien city for overnight.
DAY 4: Ha Tien – Cambodia
After breakfast, have a short drive to the Xa Xia border for procedures to get an entry into Cambodia. Further cycling in Cambodia and say goodbye to Vietnam team. End of services.
