DAY 1: Hanoi: Arrival, Hoan Kiem Lake, Old quarter Hanoi
DAY 2: Hanoi – Lao Cai – BacHa : Chay river, Bao Nhai, Bac Ha
DAY 3: Bac Ha – Sapa: Bac Ha Sunday Market, Ta Phin, Sapa.
DAY 4: Sapa – Than Uyen: Sapa, Silver waterfalls, pass O Qui Ho, Heaven gate, Binh Lu, Than Uyen
DAY 5: Than Uyen – Tuan Giao: Ta Hua village, MuongGion, PaUon bridge, NamMu river, Da river
DAY 6: Tuan Giao – Dien Bien: white Thai village, Tang Quai pass, Dien Bien Phu

Itinerary of CYCLING NORTHWEST VIETNAM MOUNTAIN SCENERY
DAY 1: Hanoi arrival
As arriving Hanoi airport, you will get a transfer to hotel. Free at leisure for promenading around Hanoi Old Quarter , or be ready with your bike and have a short ride around Hanoi centers.
DAY 2: Hanoi – Lao Cai – Bac Ha.
Take a bus drive around 3 hours and a half to Yen Bai and then to Lao Cai town. It’s great to start our cycling Northwest Vietnam by biking along the Chay river to Bao Nhai with lunch break en route. Take a challenge by cycling up the mountain to Bac Ha with the elevation of around 900m from the sea level. Enjoy the beauty of mountain view, Flower Hmong people and the fresh air of the nature. Overnight in Bac Ha town.
DAY 3: Bac Ha – Sapa
After having breakfast in Bac Ha, be ready with camera as you will have amazing experience on photo shots of the color and life of indigenous people here. Have a walk to Bac Ha Sunday market, getting the most colorful hill tribe market day time.
Have a cycling to the Old Hmong’s King house in town. After lunch, head to Sapa on peaceful roads across villages of hill tribes, mountains and valleys. That’s the spectacular 50km downhill from Bac Ha passing Nam Mon to Coc Ly. A biking along the river afterward is a change in view before meeting our bus for a transfer to Sapa via Lao Cai, to avoid the sections of big roads and traffic.
After check in hotel, have a short refreshment then join a walking tour to Ham Rong mountain with beautiful panorama view of Sapa town and surroundings.
DAY 4: Sapa – Heaven gate – Than Uyen
Your cycling Northwest Vietnam today will undergo the highest pass in Vietnam and breathtaking mountain scenery. After one hour cycling up and down hills (more up than down), stop at Silver waterfalls for relax, then be ready to conquer the highest mountain pass named O Qui Ho with marvelous view to valleys, hills, rice terraced farms, and home of indigenous people. Over the hill as cycling down is the great panoramic view of Hoang Lien Son mountain range. After lunch, have a short visit to a village of Hmong or Dao near Binh Lu before biking to Than Uyen for overnight.
DAY 5: Than Uyen – Tuan Giao
Have a short biking to a river where a local boat ferry will help to go across. Further pushing your pedal to Ta Hua village, to Muong Gion, to PaUon bridge with amazing views of mountains, hills, rivers, villages, farms along our cycling routes. After lunch, take a short transfer to the top of the hill then cycle down to Muong Thang and to Tuan Giao. Some sections of the roads are bad with mud and rock but most of those are good with asphalt roads with little traffic. Options for more active cyclists can be cycling all the way without the bus transfer to the top of the hill.
DAY 6: Tuan Giao – DienBien
The cycling northwest Vietnam today starts by taking a short cycling to a white Thai village and make a visit before cycling up the Tang Quai pass. View of town are behind and is replaced by mountain view and guff, making impressive feeling for chill challengers. Continue on the very good roads curving around mountains, valleys, villages and entering the famed land Dien Bien Phu the powerful French head quarter in Indochina war.
DAY 7: Dien Bien Phu
Today is an easy day with touring around Dien Bien Phu for more understanding the historical site.we visit the former French battlefield with sites like Eliane hill, DeCastries bunker, Dien Bien museum as well as learn some more about French weapons made by French and US at that time.
DAY 8: Dien Bien – Pha Din pass – Son La
In the morning, take around 90 minute transfer back to Tuan Giao where we continue our cycling northwest Vietnam by little 6 km warm up in relatively flat road before cycling up Pha Din pass, one of the longest pass in Northwest Vietnam mountain. Imagine you can challenge yourself with 12 km winding up hill and the give a reward of 14 km down hill, with spectacular landscape of mountains, rice terraced farms, hills with houses of indigenous people, water buffalos, indigenous kids.
Late in the afternoon, we can take a transfer to Ban Moong hot spring for a relaxing on a Ban Moong hot spring bathtub, have a dinner with local specialities, and back to Son La for overnight.
DAY 9: Son La – Moc Chau – Mai Chau
Have a transfer by bus to Moc Chau plateau, and start our cycling northwest Vietnam today by biking on the old route 6 to Mai Chau, passing great views of mountain with spectacular karsts cliffs coming with the beautiful valleys. Visit some Black Thai villages before biking downhill to MaiChau. Check in a homestay and be ready for a night with local food, music, traditional dance and house wine with local indigenous people.
DAY 10: Mai Chau – Hanoi
The final day of cycling northwest Vietnam gets start by a soft cycling around tracks at Ban Lac village then to Ba Khan commune. The hills are not tough with beautiful scenery of stilt houses, rice terraced farms, colorful local hill tribal people. Stop some corner to have talk with local people.
After around 45km along the Da reservoir, stop for lunch and make a transfer to Ky Son to cycle more along rivers and lakes. The cycling is up to yen Trung and we say goodbye the cycling northwest Vietnam to get a transfer back to Hanoi.
Enjoy farewell dinner.
