That’s a Mekong Delta cycling trip going across endless rice farms, along beautiful canal systems, on floating markets, over hundred of tiny bridges, to the trails of country side villages full of daily life activities. And they are absolutely flat on a fertile delta.

DAY 1: SaiGon – BenTre – TraVinh: MyTho town, Rach Mieu suspension bridge, Co Chien ferry, Mekong river
DAY 2: TraVinh – CanTho: Ba Om pond, Khmer pagoda, rice fields, gardens and ferry
DAY 3: CanTho – ChauDoc: Cai Rang floating market, Phong Dien gardens, Sam mountain
DAY 4: ChauDoc – Long Xuyen: Tra Su mangrove forest, Ongchuong island.
DAY 5: Long Xuyen – Saigon: Long xuyen floating market, Dinh Yen market, Sa Dec
Itinerary of MEKONG DELTA CYCLING 5 DAYS FROM SAIGON
DAY 1: Saigon – My Tho – Ben Tre – Tra Vinh
Meet your cycling tour guide in the hotel and take a transfer to Tan An to avoid the bustling roads, then we start our cycling thru beautiful fields and dragon fruit plantations. After reaching My Tho town, we take a challenge of biking over the Rach Mieu suspension bridge with panorama view of Mekong river and its riverside beauties. Continue Mekong delta cycling along trails under the green coconut canopies which make the fame of BenTre land.
After having lunch, take a transfer passing the busy roads and stop at a new destination for further cycling among the fruit garden, coconut trees. A crossing the the Mekong river is a great experience for talking to the local people. Futher cycling to villages, canals, land of brick kilns, across huge rice farms before crossing another Mekong river brand among the sunset to arrive Tra Vinh.
DAY 2: Tra Vinh – Can Tho
A little cycling in this peaceful town to a central pond is a good start. Further cycling will take you to the views of old trees, Khmer pagodas where we could have a visit to discover the pagodas and the belief.
Continue around 30km to Tra Met on so flat paved road, then turn into little cement road leading to rice fields, gardens, schools and villages. Takes some more crossing the rivers by local boats and ferries before joining a local boat along Mekong river and arriving Can Tho city for overnight.
DAY 3: CanTho – ChauDoc
Get up early and take a boat trip to Cai Rang floating market where people go there for selling fruits and vegetables from their gardens. More cruising into small quiet canals to a starting point where we start the Mekong delta cycling today. Enjoy the country roads with authentically Vietnamese scenery and get close to the locals as they also cycle along your trails as their daily activities. Continue the biking along the river, canals, villages to Phong Dien fruit land where we stop the first section of biking and get a transfer to avoid the big roads and the heat. Have lunch en route.
As arriving Chau Doc, we jump on the bike again and take a challenge to cycle up the mountain where the sunset over the endless rive farms and canals is below your wheels of bikes.
DAY 4: ChauDoc – Long Xuyen
After a boat trip to visit a floating market and a fish farm where people live on boats and floating house and fishes are cultivated beneath. Visit a house and understand how they bring up the fish, the cruising cross the village of floating houses and boats is also a great experience for seeing how people can live in that small space, including children and animals.
Have a biking to Tra Su biosphere park which is a mangrove forest. Enjoy the boat trip among the peaceful scene of birds sanctuary nature. After lunch, bike to Ong chuong Island and follow the countryside road to LongXuyen city.
DAY 5: Long Xuyen – SaDec – Saigon
Enjoy the early morning boat trip to Sadec floating market before making the Mekong delta cycling to a local market which is famous at sleeping mats. Further cycling take you to central Sadec town which was home for Marguerite Duras, a famous novelist with famed L’amant.
Take a bus transfer to Saigon afterward. End of the Mekong delta cycling 5 days.
