DAY 1: Hanoi – Nghia Lo
Meet your tour guide, have some introduction and tale a 2 hour transfer to Thanh Son where we start cycling up the mountain to Ba Khe. After having lunch, take a rest and continue the cycling North Vietnam to Nghia Lo. Enjoy the great view of mountain, hills, rice farms, etc on the very good asphalt roads.
DAY 2: Nghia Lo – Mu Cang Chai
The initial warm up cycling in the morning is made via some flat roads out of Nghia Lo, passing by beautiful villages, before heading to more hilly ways with spectacular view of rice farms and farmers. Have stop in Tu Le for lunch among the green color of rice farms and mountain view. After lunch we have a challenge of cycling over Khau Pha pass where we enjoy the beautiful rice terraced fields over the hills at My Cang Chai.
DAY 3: Mu Cang Chai – Than Uyen
We start the morning not by cycling, but a wonderful walking around with great opportunities for photo shots at a local market of the Hmong people. Then we make 50 km cycling up and down hills to Than Uyen with nature of mountain, villages, rice farms on hills on the rather good roads.
DAY 4: Than Uyen – SaPa
Sapa is the famous hill station of French at Indochina war, remaining the colonial feeling with some monuments, blending with the multi-color life styles of a group of many different indigenous people. The attraction is then much more not only for Westerner but also for red river Delta people.
After easy 10 km as a warm-up in the morning, cycling more up hills to Binh Lu. After the hilly section is a challenge of cycling over the highest mountain pass in Vietnam Tram Ton pass. That’s the cycling up of 27km and the elevation 2000m above the sea, enjoying the heart-taking view of the mountain range.
Take strong feeling of descending 15km on bike to Sapa.
DAY 5: Sapa – Ha Giang
The cycling North Vietnam today will pass many villages of Hmong and Dzao etnic people around the spectacular mountain view of North Vietnam. Take a downhill around 35 km to Lao Cai town, before get some transfer to avoid big roads, and cycle further to small trails from Pho Rang. Follow the beautiful small roads to Tan Quang and then to Bac Quang where you can get a transfer to hotel in Ha Giang.
DAY 6: Ha Giang – Quan Ba
Be ready for a big day with cycling up to heaven gates of the Hmong people at the elevation around 1100m. As up to the top, you will not feel sorry as the view down to valleys and rice terraced fields are a true compensation. Take a lovely cycling along the Nhiem River before staying overnight in Quan Ba.
DAY 7: Quan Ba – Yen Minh
The cycling North Vietnam has some change in view since today we enter the land of Karst typography with the diversity of limestone landscape which are great for photography. It’s a trip of continual up and down hills, steep roads with many sharp bends. However, that’s another great point for once for a life time pictures. Stop some places en route for visiting the traditional house of the local hill tribes.
DAY 8: Yen Minh – Dong Van
The quiet and semi-surfaced road today leads us to the rocky Dong Van plateau where over 80% of the land here is covered by rocks containing fossils from 400-600million years ago. Dong van is a famous town in cultural feature exposure as the sharing home of Chinese Hoa, H’mong, Tay and Kinh People.
Have some easy cycling with a visit to the House of Hmong’s King with its legends in history and architecture. The cycling to Dong Van continues with a walking tour around Dong Van ancient town.
DAY 9: Dong Van – Meo Vac
The view from Dong Van to Meo Vac is spectacular with winding and undulating road along the sight of the Nho Que River, the vast gorges around the legendary valleys with beautiful rice fields, and the local Hmong tribal people on the way back home, the My Pi Leng pass, etc.
Meo Vac remains the authentic culture of indigenous people as the traffic to here is limited. Enjoy the discovery of a remote tribe.
DAY 10: Meo Vac – Niem Son – Bao Lac
Your cycling adventure today get deeper into the nice scenery of the Karst typography. Start from the hotel, make a short easy cycling out of Meo Vac before more road winding its way on steep mountain sides for 50km. Following is a beautiful cycling North Vietnam by pushing pedal along the Gam river from Ly Bon. Feel free to cycling the whole way and remember the bus and the truck are always at your back up plan.
DAY 11: Bao Lac – Ba Be national park
It’s a long day with good dirt roads across rice farm, villages, mountains, and forests. Have a bus transfer to avoid uphills, then push your pedal up to Ba Be. Have picnic lunch en route. In the afternoon, after arriving, we are rewarded by a beautiful boat trip into the Ba Be national park.
DAY 12: Ba Be – Thai Nguyen – Hanoi
Enjoy the great scenery of the national park by cycling to Ba Be lake and cross over Pe Leng stream to Pac Ngoi village. You will make a lot of photo shots with impressive landscape of limestone mountains. We arrive Cho Don, continue cycling to Bac Kan town where we say goodbye to our bike, make some refreshment, have lunch and enjoy a nap on the bus transfer to Hanoi.
